In the village of Alkhan-Kala, the Russian military detained Z. Arsakaev and took him away. Under Article 126, part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“abduction of a person”), the prosecutor's office of the Grozny district on October 28 opened criminal case No. 19180.

In a wasteland adjacent to the territory where the buildings of the government of the Chechen Republic, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and law enforcement agencies are located, Said-Magomed Dzhamalaylov, 65 years old, who lived on Klara Zetkin Street, was blown up and killed by a tripwire mine.

On August 8, 2001 at 6.30 am a shell exploded in the Salamovs' house in the village of Chiri-Yurt. A 14-year-old girl was seriously injured.

On August 7, 2001, in some quarters (Guchigov St., Chapaev St.) of Urus-Martan, "cleansing" operations took place.

From August 6 to August 9, 2001, aviation bombed the village of Dyshne-Vedeno. At the same time, “cleansing operations” took place in the village every day, as a result of which ten people were detained: seven from Umaeva Street, three from other places.

From 5 to 9 August 2001 Grozny was closed to motor vehicles. The Russian command, fearing that on the fifth anniversary of the start of the assault on the capital of the republic, the CRI VF would take some action, set up additional roadblocks on the roads and stopped all traffic.

From August 4 to August 8, 2001, Urus-Martan was completely blocked for the passage of vehicles, the checkpoints were reinforced with armored vehicles.
