On December 12, several hundred Azerbaijani citizens calling themselves environmental activists blocked traffic along the Lachin corridor, a highway connecting the Armenian city of Goris and the capital of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Stepanakert. A humanitarian catastrophe is brewing in Artsakh (the Armenian name for Karabakh).

On December 18, an office of the regional branch of the Russian LDPR party was opened in Grozny. The ceremony was attended by party member Viktor Bout, who was released from an American prison and handed over to Russia as part of a prisoner exchange ten days earlier.

On December 13, at a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, the first vice-speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Alexander Kornienko, announced the creation of the inter-factional deputy association “Free Ichkeria”. Its members included 12 deputies from the political parties “Servant of the People”, “European Solidarity” and “Voice”.

On November 28, the mayor of Makhachkala, Salman Dadaev, announced at a session of the city meeting that he was leaving his post. He did not hide that the reason for his early resignation was a conflict with the head of the republic, Sergei Melikov.

On November 16, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine put the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, on the wanted list. The orientation indicates that he is accused under two articles of the Criminal Code: Art. 110 “Encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine” (punishable by imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years) and Art. 437 “Planning, preparation, unleashing and waging an aggressive war” (up to 15 years).

On October 31, negotiations between the heads of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh took place in Sochi. First, Putin held bilateral meetings with Aliyev and Pashinyan, then everyone met in a trilateral format.
As experts note, the Sochi meetings did not add anything new to the negotiation process.

On October 29, Ukrainian politician, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, representative of Ukraine in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Alexey Goncharenko, announced the creation of a battalion of Dagestanis named after Imam Shamil as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The unit was headed by Magomet Seipulaev.

On October 27, speaking at a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, President Vladimir Putin accused the West of nurturing terrorists in Russia.

On October 26, the Congress of the Oirat-Kalmyk people published the Declaration “On State Independence of the Republic of Kalmykia,” in which it announced the need for “the complete liberation of the Oirat-Kalmyk people from colonial dependence on Russia.” The Congress stated that it would seek the secession of Kalmykia from the Russian Federation, the proclamation and creation of a sovereign independent state.

On October 25, the Armenian authorities announced that they consider the arrival of State Duma deputy, first deputy chairman for CIS affairs and relations with compatriots Konstantin Zatulin undesirable. Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and RT television channel, was subject to the same restrictions.
