The European Court of Human Rights has begun to investigate a complaint of torture of an artist from Chechnya

The European Court of Human Rights accepted the lawsuit of actor Timur Debishev of the Grozny theater, who reported torture for suspected possession of drugs. The ECtHR notified the authorities of the Russian Federation of the consideration of the complaint. Russia may ignore the questions, but the court will examine the materials and make its verdict. This was reported by «Team against Torture».

The Fifth Court of Cassation in Pyatigorsk recognized the claim of the native of Chechnya, Mansur Rajaev, and awarded him compensation for violation of the conditions of detention in Colony 6 of the Khabarovsk Territory. In 2012, Rajaev was sentenced to life imprisonment, having recognized it as a member of the NWF, the members of which eliminated six soldiers of the Russian internal troops in Dagestan in September 1999.
