In most regions, more than 35 per cent of accused persons are sentenced to deprivation of liberty. However, in Chechnya, Dagestan and Altai, this figure ranges from 15 to 20 per cent, which is in line with the principles of humanizing justice. This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation Vladimir Davydov.

Bagaudin Gaitukiev, a doctor detained in March 2022 from Ingushetia, is accused of supplying weapons to terrorists. He had previously been accused of aiding and abetting members of a prohibited armed group.

In 2022, the migration decline of the population in Chechnya, i.e. the excess of those who left over those who came for permanent residence, amounted to more than 4,000 people. This is almost double the indicator of 2021. Residents leave not only to other regions of the Russian Federation, but also abroad.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Chavushoglu said during a meeting in Ankara with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan that steps to normalize relations between the two countries would be accelerated. The ministers also discussed the negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Khasavyurt City Court mitigated the measure of restraint and released policeman Shamil Aliyev from the detention center under house arrest. He and his partner had previously been found guilty of abuse of authority with violence and falsification of evidence, each being sentenced to three and a half years' imprisonment.

The Khatai District Court of Baku considered a petition to transfer public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev to house arrest. The defence based the request on the lack of investigative necessity to keep him in detention, as well as on his health due to the prolonged hunger strike. However, the court left the man in pre-trial detention.
