Abkhazia is facing a sharp deterioration in its fuel supply, with long queues forming at major petrol stations in Sukhumi and other towns. Some filling stations have introduced a limit of 20 litres of petrol per vehicle. The de facto authorities acknowledge supply disruptions but insist they are temporary.

The fuel crisis in southern Russia is gradually easing. Queues at petrol stations are shrinking, major fuel retailers are lifting or relaxing purchase limits, and regional authorities are increasingly declaring that supplies have stabilised. Yet officials and analysts caution that it is too early to declare the crisis over.

TBILISI, July 24 — Tbilisi and much of Georgia were left without electricity overnight after a major disruption to the country’s power grid, according to preliminary information. Authorities have not yet identified the cause of the outage.
