Ingushetia resident who claimed to have been tortured sentenced to 12 years

Bagaudin Yevloyev, a resident of Ingushetia, was sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime colony on charges of participating in «Imarat Caucasus» organization and possession of weapons. He had previously alleged torture in detention.

The European Court of Human Rights accepted the lawsuit of actor Timur Debishev of the Grozny theater, who reported torture for suspected possession of drugs. The ECtHR notified the authorities of the Russian Federation of the consideration of the complaint. Russia may ignore the questions, but the court will examine the materials and make its verdict. On March 27, the European Court of Human Rights reported the communication of 37 complaints from Russians who had suffered torture and other types of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment. 14 complaints were filed by residents of the regions of southern Russia and the North Caucasus.

The Fifth Court of Cassation in Pyatigorsk recognized the claim of the native of Chechnya, Mansur Rajaev, and awarded him compensation for violation of the conditions of detention in Colony 6 of the Khabarovsk Territory. In 2012, Rajaev was sentenced to life imprisonment, having recognized it as a member of the NWF, the members of which eliminated six soldiers of the Russian internal troops in Dagestan in September 1999.
