The court in Grozny approved the request for parole of Dzhabrail Makhmudov. In 2014, he and his brother Ibrahim were found guilty of complicity in the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya. They were sentenced to 12 and 14 years in a maximum security colony, respectively.
