The European Court of Human Rights awarded compensation in the amount of 7,500 euros to the journalist, a native of Chechnya, Zhalaudi Geriev. The ECHR found his treatment degrading and found a violation of one of the articles of the Human Rights Convention. During the trial, the man was kept in a cage.
